Chikamu Arts used industry standard and factory produced glazes to maintain safe practices.  All glazes used are non-toxic and food safe unless otherwise noted.

Underglazes & Stains

Underglazes are used for decorative purposes and are fired at lower temperatures (usually done on first firing before final glazes are applied).

Stains are used to accentuate carvings or stamped clay.  Chikamu Arts typically uses iron oxide stain on logos and lettering.  Other slip decorating options include red, blue, peacock, black and other colors can be ordered, if desired.
